Speech-Language Therapy
Using innovative and state-of-the art techniques, our speech-language pathologists work with patients, caregivers and families to achieve an individual's highest level of functional independence, increase safety, cope with the changes that may occur with a variety of diseases, select appropriate communication systems and train their use.

Speech-Language Pathologists will identify and treat problem areas that may include:

  • Swallowing disorders
  • Vocal dysfunction
  • Vocal misuse disorders
  • Speech-language impairments
  • Cognitive impairments
  • Changes in breathing patterns/support
  • Stuttering/dysfluency

Speech-language pathologists with expertise in the treatment of swallowing disorders provide individualized strategies for the safe intake of nutrition while focusing on the enjoyment and ease of eating/drinking through diet modifications and compensatory strategies. They work in a one-on-one setting to target impairments in strength and function.

In addition to offering new possibilities to augment communication, intervention may involve maximizing everyday communication skills including articulation, quality of voice and nonverbal communication.

Our speech-language pathologists are members of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and are certified in Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT), a specialized treatment program for those with Parkinson’s Disease.
