Amputee Rehabilitation Program
The Amputee Rehabilitation Program at the Penn Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine provides each patient with individualized treatment based on a comprehensive network of clinical and technical resources. The goal of the inpatient program is to maximize each patient’s independence and help him or him return to a productive, rewarding lifestyle.
A team of rehabilitation specialists, including physical, speech and occupational therapists and rehabilitation nurses, are directed and monitored by a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatrist). Throughout treatment, patients and families become an integral part of the rehabilitation team and help to identify individual needs and goals. As Good Shepherd Penn Partners’ team meets on a regular basis, patient progress is assessed and treatment goals are developed and adjusted.
The beds at the Penn Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine are licensed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The rehabilitation program and services bring together the best of Good Shepherd and The University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS).
